Nirvana + Meat Puppets + Digital Cameras = noisephotography.com
The above photo I took is of Krist Novoselic of Nirvana and Kurt Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets playing in Buffalo, New York in 2002 for a very short lived band called Eyes Adrift.
The main reason I am posting this photo is because it is a tie in with last weeks Spiritualized post. This Eyes Adrift show was one of the first I shot with a digital SLR camera and illustrates perfectly one of the early flaws with digital photography. The horrible "streaking grain" you see in the photo that was created by early digital SLRs was soon dubbed "noise" in photography circles and essentially described a horrible photograph. In case you are wondering....Yes, I had registered the domain name www.noisephotography.com prior to the term for "shit" photography being called "noise". But I'd like to take this moment to thank you all for the hits from google and other search engines each and every week looking for what the term noise in photography means!
